Valentine's Day Special (Poem)

 Be Your Own Valentine….

Let the moon up above your head brightly shine

For a change, be your own Valentine

Nay, you need not wait for any medieval knight in shining armour

For you are no damsel in distress,

You need no stroke of love or a feather-touch of caress

To prove that you are absolutely fine

For a change, be your own Valentine

You are sensitive to your own desires, ambitions and priorities

You are the master of your mind, you have a voice and know all the nitty-gritty

To succeed in everything that you do from nine to nine

For a change, be your own Valentine

Let the cuckoo sing to you

You need no lover to serenade you

Or, better still, play an old classic melody

A haunting baritone or a dulcet tone to mesmerise your ears

It is music that you tune in to while you sit down to dine

For a change, be your own Valentine

Pamper yourself with your grandma’s kitchen packs as useful beauty hacks to achieve that glowy look

And rustle up a tasty dish from your mom’s secret recipe book

Pore over a romantic novel or a suspense thriller that keeps you glued

Relish some delish maple sauce-glazed mango pie with a topping of sweet apples — tender, juicy and stewed

If this is not enough to make you feel special and unique, Wait! We have another idea in line

For a change, be your own Valentine

Slip into that tangerine gown and gorge on some gorgeous desserts, bet you’ll be in absolute bliss and floating on cloud nine

For a change, be your own Valentine

Indulge in some self-love, treat yourself to ‘me time’ and dig your heart’s gold mine

For a change, be your own Valentine

From your small room, look out of the window

Standing tall, alone or in rows, the beautiful banyan or the pine

For a change, be your own Valentine

We guess, this much for today is pretty fine

Come what may, never forget to be your own Valentine!
